Not much time left

until it's back to mega super poop town for the end of mega super poop first semester.
Wow I really hate school so much. Haha I'm silly.

I got a Wii for the Christmas thing and the new Zelda is very high on my list of favorite things ever.

Here's a crappy drawing I made of myself being totally mesmerized by the sheer awesomeness.
It's almost enough to distract me from waiting for the CalArts response thing.

Aaaand Amelia sent me super rad watercolor stuff. THANK YOUUUUUU.

You know what's lame?

Now that I've mailed off all my little drawings to CalArts, I start to draw better. Maybe my brain just thinks these are better to make me more worried. That's probably it.

And me and Amelia did Sketchcrawl in San Francisco again. It was fancy fun.
I didn't like my drawings so I haven't scanned them yet. I might. I think.
Or something.

School is boring

I drew this with Appleworks. I like MS paint better.

And now...

we wait.

I mailed off the portfolio last Thursday. My brain felt really fried that day.
I decided not to come to school so that I could figure out how to get flash and quicktime to work together since apparently quicktime 7 really dislikes flash. So after a few really frustrating hours, I figured out that there's some stoopid setting I need to turn on which didn't exist in the older versions of quicktime. By then I got the .mov file I exported from flash to work. But now a new problem came up: flash based quicktime files don't work in iMovie, the program I needed to use to export my animation to a video camera so that I could then transfer that onto a VHS. I had to buy quicktime pro for 30 bucks so that I could convert the .mov into a .dv but luckily, after that everything went smoothly.
I put a few more drawings into my portfolio case but then I had to go to school to take an in class essay in English. Oddly, I feel like I did pretty well on it. Anyways, I came home and then spent the rest of the afternoon trying to put in more drawings. Once behind those sheets of plastic, everything I've drawn looks much worse to me for some reason. I kept second guessing whether I should send certain drawings. Whatever. I finally got everything in there.
And we we're off to Fed Ex. We spent a long time trying to pad the big box they gave us so that my painting wouldn't get all banged up. I hope the box isn't too big. Argh.
Anyways, it's sent. Needless to say, I'm quite eager for the response.

Here's the little animated bit I put onto a VHS. It's only like two minutes long.

I painted a little message on my portfolio.

And here's a drawing I did to put in the first page.

I drew this at my relatives' house place using ms paint and a track ball mouse. It was weird. I need to try life drawing with it.

Happy turkey thing.

And we said nay! We are but men!

I saw Tenacious D last night. They rocked my face off. I like guitars.

Well there's no school this week. Fancy that. I really need to get my act together on the whole application thing. Hopefully I'll get most of that done this week.

I tried painting the figure for the first time on Sunday. It was fun I guess, although most of the time it felt like I was just putting down unecessary strokes and not making any progress. I need to paint more.
Anyways, the pose was three hours long. I was probably only painting for two of those. In the last twenty minutes of the pose I went and drew the model's face from a different angle and I like it a bazillion times more than the painted bit. Oh well.

Argh my brain

I'm sleepy.
I drew this today at school during physiology and english.

I've been spending today to work on a painting. It's a self portrait of myself strangling myself.

Well it's November now. I'm gonna aim to have my portfolio done in the next two weeks. I'll probably miss that deadline. It just needs to be done before the end of the month so I can meet the preferred deadline for CalArts.
Speaking of which, here's some drawingings.

And cameras are fun. This photo isn't altered at all. I just used a long shutterspeed and moved my head around.

Dragging my butt through a pile of gravel

Thats kinda how school feels this year.
I don't like it too much.

Aaaanyways. I did something neat on Monday. I took my friend's laptop and a mouse to life drawing and I used ms paint to draw through the whole session. It's pretty difficult to draw with the mouse but I think I'm pretty good with it by now after using it so much during class, drawing with ms paint when I should be researching or something. I like to impair my ability to draw. I might be wrong but I think that it forces me to pay better attention and I draw better. Also I'm less anxious about drawing well so the result is usually better. At CSSSA, Corny had us draw with our non dominant hand sometimes and one time we drew with three foot sticks with drawing stuff attached to the ends.

Here's some drawings from the thing.

I hope CalArts likes these. I'm putting them in my portfolio.

That was awesome. I got to see Amelia and Mary again.
Yesterday was Sketchcrawl 11. We took the ferry to Sausalito and drew lots. There were like 80 of us or something.

This next one is my favorite page. And I swear, Enrico isn't smoking, he's holding a cap in his mouth.

In other news, I discovered that glossy photo paper is awesome for drawing on.
It started when I took some messed up prints from my photography classroom.

And then I started using watercolor and stuff. I like it a lot.

By the way, does anyone know how I can get my profile picture and stuff to align properly? That looks silly right now.

Well..... School's started again.
I'm having a hard time trying to readjust to the routine scream in the morning when I wake up and realize where I'm going to be in the next forty minutes.
But I guess it's not that bad. Ummmmm.
I've been drawing not as much as I want but more than last year which is good I suppose.

Some self portrait thingy

So this is a blog...

Okay I write stuff here, right?
I guess I'll do what everyone else is doing and make a blog thing.
Maybe my life will be interesting. I don't know. Hopefully it will be for you since you're reading this.

So yeah. I guess I'll just use this as a space to talk about stuff and maybe post some drawings every now and then.

School starts soon. Boooo. I want to go back to CalArts. CSSSA was too short.
